Subject: Rot Soaps - From Here to There Parts 12 & 13 >From Here to There Part #12 -It's Over...Really by A Open to Ross' office. He has just settled in to work on a case when Phillip walks in. Ross:(looking over the tops of his glasses) Phillip? Was I expecting you? Phillip: No, no. I just dropped by in the hopes of talking. Is this a bad time? Ross:(shuts his file) Not at all. Have a seat; tell me what's on your mind. Phillip: Did you consider my offer? Ross: Yes, very carefully. Phillip:(impatiently) And... And, do you think you could share your decision and put me out of my misery? Ross stands up and walks around to Phillip, extending his hand as he breaks into a wide grin. Ross: Sign me up!! Phillip:(stands up and embraces Ross) Ok! Welcome aboard! Ross: Are life jackets and shark repellent standard Spaulding issue? Phillip laughs, really pleased his uncle decided to join forces. "Whatever you need!" Ross: Actually, I do have one request. I am going to need somewhat flexible hours. Phillip: I can't see a problem with that. Do you mind if I ask why though? Ross:(walks back to his desk) I may have lost my family, but my boys are everything. Blake and I have decided that my spending as much time as possible with the boys is really what is best for them, so we've been making a go of it. Phillip: This has nothing to do with Blake? Ross: Of course not. I've been able to move on, (thinks about the kiss and her reaction) and so has she. Phillip says nothing, wondering if his uncle really believes what he is saying. Ross:(noting Phillip's silence) You don't believe me? Phillip: Hey, it's your life. I just find it hard to believe Blake has given up on you, that's all. Ross:(shrugs) She couldn't ignore it forever. (confidently) We're over and done with. Phillip:(changing the topic) You're sure about getting back into the Spaulding ring with me? Ross: Absolutely. It's time I had a change, a new challenge. Phillip nods sympathetically, knowing that what he is really looking for is an escape. Cut to Cedars hospital where Blake is waiting impatiently to meet with Rick. Rick, in a cheerful mood looking forward to seeing his son, finally wanders by. Rick: Hi, Blake. What's up? Blake:(reserved) Rick. Rick:(looks around) Where's my boy? Blake: Kevin and Jason are spending the morning with Mom and their Auntie Meg. Rick:(clearly disappointed) Oh. What did you need to talk to me about? Blake:(takes a deep breath) It's about Kevin. Rick:(not liking the look in her eyes, he becomes alarmed) Is something wrong? Blake: No... not exactly. Rick:(getting more excitable) If there is a problem, just tell me now, Blake. Blake: There is a problem, Rick, but it isn't with Kevin. It's with you. Rick:(frowns) Me? I'm fine. I'm not following. Blake:(knowing this won't be easy, tries to be as non-confrontational as possible) Rick, I wanted to meet with you today to set up a visitation schedule. Rick:(relieved) Oh, is that all? We have a schedule, Blake. Blake: Yes we do. But, you haven't been sticking to it, and it is becoming a problem. Rick: What are you saying, Blake? Blake:(searching for the right words) I'm saying you are being disruptive to the boys. Rick:(attempting to brush her off) Disruptive... please. Blake: It's true. We have a schedule, and you are constantly disrupting it. Rick: (feeling wronged) I'm a doctor, Blake; my schedule changes. Blake:(calmly, with force) Not good enough, Rick. Kevin is not here for your convenience. Rick: I know that. But, he is my son. Blake: Look, I now you are upset about Abi, and I've tried to make allowances, but half the time you are with Kevin you are angry, upset, and hurt.It isn't good for Kevin. Rick:(righteously indignant) You're damn right I'm upset about Abi. She's the love of my life. Blake: Just follow the schedule, Rick. Rick: Or what, Blake?(expecting her to back down) Blake: Or, I'll do whatever it takes to do what is best for my sons. Rick:(seething) I have patients waiting... (he marches off) >From Here to There Part #13- Who's That Knockin At My Door? By: A editor extraordinaire: Emily S Open to the Carriage House, where Holly is dropping off Meg. As she covers all the little details with Blake, Blake rolls her eyes. Blake: Mom, I have two boys. I know about taking care of little people! Holly:(realizes she is being silly, hugs Blake) Are you sure keeping Meg overnight won't be too much? Blake:(genuinely happy to return a long overdue favor) Not at all. The boys love their Auntie Meg; they'll have a great time. Holly:(wonders if Blake is as happy as she is letting on) There is something different about you, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Care to enlighten me? Blake: I just feel like I am starting to get my life under control. Holly: Does this include the elusive Mr. Marler? Blake:(looking coy) I've been working on getting Ross back, Ross's way. Holly: Ross has a way? DO tell. Blake: Slowly, so slowly he doesn't even realize it is happening. Holly:(finishes unpacking Meg's favorite toys) Is this my darling daughter talking? Slowly?? (Chuckles) Blake: Oh, sure, make fun. (throws a stuffed animal playfully at her mom) But, it is already working. Holly: Is it? (Skeptical) Blake: It is. He is feeling very comfortable around here. I'll admit he still barely acknowledges my existence, but he is very comfortable in our home again. Holly:(hoping Blake isn't seeing something that doesn't exist) I've got to run; Fletcher is waiting. (kisses Meg and her grandsons) Blake:(shoos her off) Go, go and have fun. We'll be fine! ***************** A few minutes after Holly leaves, Blake hears someone at the door. Blake:(to the kids) This place is like Grand Central. (opens the door, only to be peering into Ross' baby blues) Ross? Ross:(imitating her) Blake? Blake:(slaps herself in the head) Oh gosh, Ross, I was supposed to call you. Ross:(feeling punchy, excited to be spending some time with the kids) Why call? I'm standing right in front of you. Blake:(flustered) Come in. I was going to call you to ask you to reschedule your over-night visit, but then Mom dropped by, and... Well, I forgot. Ross:(grins as the boys spy him and start making their way to him) Reschedule? Why? Blake: The boys are both teething, they are cranky, and I volunteered to keep Meg so Mom and Fletcher could have a night out. Ross: As always, my timing is impeccable. Blake: You're not upset? Ross: No. I'm here now; I might as well stay. I have the feeling you could use an extra pair of hands.
