Another World Update for 9/23/93

KBAY- Kevin, Matt, and Brett are talking about Carl's transgressions.  Kevin 
 tells Matt that Carl was arrested and Matt wants to send out a newsvan to 
 cover the story.  Lorna arrives and wants to know why Kevin is trying to 
 convict Carl, because she thinks he's innocent.

D&M- Dean & Jenna are there and Maggie shows up to see Stark.  She wants to
 change because she thinks she looks like a kid.  She rushes out as Stark is 
 arriving.

Jungle- Ian & Paulina awake very much intertwined (I'm assuming they made love
 although it was never directly stated).  Ian wants to know why they made love.

Jungle- Ian wants to know why Paulina risked her life to follow him into the 
 jungle.  Paulina tells him she thinks his love for her saved her life.  She
 says she know Ian hasn't let anyone get that close to him before, and that he
 made his life a mission to finish Daddy Dearest's work.  Paulina says it's 
 time for him to think about his own dreams.  He says his life was empty before
 and that he even feels lonely when he's with Paulina.

D&M- Maggie dresses outrageously (read slut) as Stark gets impatient waiting 
 for her.  When he sees her, he says she looks like a tramp- nothing like the
 fresh faced young girl that Lorna had described.

KBAY- Victor shows up and worries about Lorna.  Lorna tells Kevin she doesn't 
 think it was Carl who set the bomb & that he could still be in danger.  He
 tells her about the pen found by the car and the newspaper article (with the 
 death threat clipping cut out).  Lorna says Carl's not stupid enough to make
 such dumb mistakes, that he's too smooth an operator.  Brett asks why Ryan's 
 not on the case, and Kevin says because he's family.  Victor has a flashback
 to the gym when Kevin made a comment about the article, and starts to realize
 that Kevin's framing Carl.  Kevin says they should celebrate Carl's arrest.
 Victor makes a pointed comment about Kevin probably getting the new job.

D&M- Maggie tries to explain away her slutty clothes when she realizes Stark 
 hates them.  She says she wore them to school as a joke and the kids dared her
 to wear them to meet Stark.  Stark says he likes her twisted sense of humor.
 Then Stark tells Dean he booked him on the Conan O'Brien show next week in 
 New York.  Dean says he wants Jenna to go, but she insists she needs to stay
 home.  Maggie starts getting ideas about wanting to go to NY w/ Dean.

KBAY- Matt and Brett talk about Ryan.  She says she's over him & she's happy 
 for him and Vicky.  She wants to know when she can start decorating KBAY.  He
 says he needs Donna's ok.  Brett accuses him of not sharing what's going on
 with her, even though they're supposed to be friends.  He tells her he's 
 broke and he can't get a loan and will most likely go bankrupt after the next
 payroll.  He had similar difficulties at D&M and he doesn't want a reputation
 as a crappy businessman- he wants to be self-made like Mac.  He won't even
 consider a loan from his Mom.  Brett says she admires him, that she's 
 attracted to the heroic type.  She says she had a lot riding on KBAY too, and 
 that they should go celebrate defeat (don't ask me!).  They go to Tops.

Jungle- Paulina tells Ian about her foster family and how she always felt
 alone- her only family was Hannah, and that she wished for her mother.  He
 sympathizes.  She says she always wanted to be connected, and Ian tells her
 he's glad she found her family.  He says he never really had a family. She
 tells him that her pain of not having a family made he act to change her life
 and maybe it's the same for him.  He says his life is in the jungle.  She 
 asks if they can't just love each other.  They kiss & it progresses.

Tops- Brett and Matt buy drinks and toast "hitting the bottom."  She says she
 gets a lot of redecorating job offers, but not the type of jobs she wants.
 She wants something more.  Matt asks if she wants a boyfriend, but she says
 not now- she has too many questions about the meaning of life.  She needs 
 something more in her life.  A bank broker who had turned Matt down for a loan
 shows up and says he changed his mind and offers the loan.

D&M- Maggie and Dean sing while Jenna watches.  Lorna shows up and Jenna wants
 to know why she's out of the hospital.  Jenna tells Lorna that Maggie made a 
 bad first impression on Stark, but now she has him wrapped around her little
 finger.  Lorna says she has to leave, and Jenna wants to know what she's up 
 to.  Lorna now thinks Carl did plant the bomb and she says she going to let
 him have it.

Courthouse- Kevin gives statements about Carl's guilt to the reporters.  The
 bomber dude gets mad at Kevin and threatens to tell all because Kevin doesn't
 seem to be living up to his end of the bargain.  Victor is watching the 
 conversation.

Courthouse- Kevin says he'll guarantee the bomber dude a quick hearing if he 
 keeps his mouth shut.  The bomber guy found out Kevin's trying to pin it on 
 Carl and is afraid of retalliation.  Kevin threatens him w/ jail but the
 bomber guy threatens back.  Victor overhears the conversation and then leaves.
 Carl shows up w/ reporters in tow.  Kevin tells Carl that the prosecution
 is only interested in justice.  Carl says justice will prevail and tells his
 friends and family through the cameras that he is innocent.  Then he goes into
 the courtroom.

Tops- The banker says he's willing to lend Matt all the money he needs.  He 
 says they turned him down at first because of an error, but that they're 
 looking for lean and hungry entrepeneurs and Matt fits the bill.  He says the 
 check will be ready by the end of the week and then leaves the table.  Matt
 is excited- now he can implement all his long term plans and can have Brett
 remodel KBAY.  At the phone, the banker talks to someone and says Matt doesn't
 know who's involved in the loan (neither do I).

Jungle- Ian tells Paulina they have to go, and is upset when Paulina says the
 two of them will be together.  They leave.

D&M- Maggie tries to wiggle her way into the New York trip, but Stark says he 
 won't send her because she's still in high school.  She fantasizes that 
 they go off to NY to party and leave her like Cinderella to clean the floor
 and pick up pizza crusts.  Stark tells he that if she does all the brute work
 now, when she grows up, in 20 years, she might make it in the business.  He
 and Jenna are mean to Maggie, but Dean is outraged at their treatment of her.
 He says Maggie is special and kisses her.  When she snaps out of her fantasy, 
 Stark tells her good luck, and he thinks she has a chance of making it 
 someday.

Tops- Brett says she's over Ryan, but Matt says he's still on her mind.  Brett 
 says she sympathizes with Ryan because of what's going on with Carl.  Ryan
 is happy and Matt says it makes her miserable.  They stop talking about it
 and go off to the bank in good spirits to cash a very large check.

Courtroom- Carl wants to call Ryan but the police officer in charge of him 
 won't let him.  Lorna shows up and they talk.  Carl thinks she still believes
 him and he's happy for her company, but she lets him know that she thinks he
 did it and she's mad.  She says that there's too much evidence for her to
 believe him.

Kevin's office- Kevin tells Victor that he might be chief prosecutor soon.  
 Victor says he has some questions for Kevin.

D&M- Dean and Jenna talk about NY.  Dean tells Maggie she did a good job and 
 offers her a ride to the hospital for her volunteer work.  He reminds her she
 needs to get straight A's as he and Jenna leave.  Maggie picks up the phone
 and calls a travel agency to get tickets to go join Dean in NY.

Jungle hotel- Ian and Paulina show up.  She asks him to get them a room.  Ian
 says she should take a plane home.  She wants to know if he's coming with
 her.

Courtroom- Carl insists to Lorna that he's innocent and he's being framed.

Kevin's office- Victor says that he talked to his ex-con friends and the word
 on the street is that the bomber guy cut a deal with the D.A. (a.k.a. Kevin).
 He says he found out the bomber dude is into explosives.

Courtroom- Lorna says she refuses to believe Carl, no matter how convincing he
 is.  Carl warns her not to let herself be manipulated.  Lorna leaves.

Kevin's office- Victor accuses Kevin of bombing his own car and framing it on
 Carl.  He says because of him Lorna almost died.  (The classic AW freeze frame
 closes on this scene)
