Bridget says she didn't and asks why she would ask. Van says it's not important. Bridget says it is if Billy's drinking. Van says he's not drinking. Bridget says there is something going on. Dylan shows up and says he's ready to go. Bridget says she'll be there in a minute. Van says to be careful because there's a lot of crazy people driving around right now. Bridget asks Van why she's so jumpy around her. Boathouse- Nick tells Billy to drinks some more coffee. He says he doesn't want any. Nick says he won't take him home till he sobers up. Billy says he's sober. Nick says he understands how Billy felt about Peter's grandfather but what was he thinking when he picked up that first drink? He says he was thinking that Dylan and Van knew and didn't tell him because they didn't trust him. Nick says maybe they thought he couldn't handle it. Billy says then they were right, but not to tell them. Josh comes in looking for Tangie. Nick says they haven't seen her. Josh says he thought they went for a drive and asks what they're doing here. He asks Billy why he's drinking coffee in the middle of the night. Lighthouse- Ray tries to get in. Bill and Tangie try to keep him out, but fail. He advances on them, saying Tangie's gotten away from them too many times, but not again. Boathouse- Josh asks what Billy's doing there- besides making life difficult for his wife. Billy says he and Nick had to talk some things out and Van worries too much. Josh asks if it's about Mindy. Nick says no. Billy says they were talking about a lot of things- family and the future. Nick says it was personal. Josh says they should finish their talk tomorrow and go home because Van needs Billy. He says something happened after they left. Josh says he'll explain it on the way over. Mansion- AM comes into the living room. Alex is sleeping. He wakes her up and apologizes. She says she was having a good dream- Roger's body was being devoured by sharks. AM says he didn't know they ate their own. He asks where Fletcher is. She says he left a little while ago. He says he thought they'd ... She says he thought wrong and that they had a lovely evening. Alex asks why AM is here. He says he wanted to bury the hatchet and ring in the New Year. She says she'd like that and he offers her some brandy. She asks if it's a ploy to get her to give Gilly WSPR. He asks why she thinks that. She says because he thinks he's right. He says he knows he's right, but that's not why he's here. She says she thinks too much power in Gilly's hands is dangerous. He says he's sure that's what they said about Alex too. She laughs. She says Gilly's charming and talented and ambitious. He agrees. She asks if he's sleeping with Gilly. Cab(outside the mansion)- Julie and Lucy sit in the cab. Lucy says the mansion looks much bigger at night. Julie says "Well a lot of things look bigger at night, young lady." They're drinking a bottle of champagne. The cab driver says they can sit there all night, it's ok with him, but it'd be cheaper to sit on the curb. Lucy says how's she supposed to know if he comes out? Julie says it took Lucy a lot of guts not to sit around and wait for AM while he was flirting with another woman. She says staking out his house is much more mature. Lucy says AM took her for granted last night and they're going to wait and see if his consolation prize shows up or if he really cares about her. She asks Julie if she thinks she is young. Julie says no- we're the same age. She says she means for AM because he's a lot older and more experienced and he's been married a lot and Gilly ... Julie says Lucy can do anything Gilly can do and she is not 21 yet eaither, but if things had gone right she'd be married right now. Lucy asks if Julie wonders what it'd be like to marry someone who live up on the hill. Julie says she thinks about it all the time. Van's- Dylan asks Bridget if there's a problem here tonight. She says to ask Van. He says he's asking her what's going on. Bridget says Van accused her of telling Billy about Peter's father, which she didn't do. Van says she said she believed her. Bridget says she just wants to know what's going on- there's someone missing from the "good stable family" that's supposed to be raising Peter. Van says it's just because it's New Year's. Bridget says fine, just brush me off. Van says she's sorry- she wasn't trying to hurt Bridget's feelings when she told her to let Peter go back to sleep. She says Peter's not Bridget's job anymore. Bridget asks if Van thinks it's easy for her to forget it's her baby. Van says she's forgetting he's Billy's and her's now. Van says Bridget's making it difficult for everybody by coming over all the time. Bridget says she just wants to see him. Van says she understands, she remembers how she felt when she gave up her baby, but she did it for the same reason Bridget did, to give the baby a better life. Bridget says she's hoping she'll drop off the face of the earth and it would solve Van's problems. Van says Bridget should go. Dylan says let's go and they leave. Mindy comes downstairs and says Bill is missing. Mansion- AM says he's not sleeping with anyone- the only thing he's involved with right now is the company. Alex says that's no good for comfort. He says she knows he's always been very singleminded. Alex says she can't believe he couldn't find an interested girl. He says there were some girls at the Towers, but the one he wanted ... Alex says not to tell her she didn't want him. He says that wasn't it- that business got in the way and he lost her. She says to be careful, that he could lose a lifetime that way. He asks why she's interested in his social life. She says she doesn't want him to think he has to impress her with a vow of celibacy. She says it doesn't work for her. He asks why didn't Fletcher stay? She says they had a nice evening and he went home. He asks why. She says he doesn't think he belongs here. She doesn't blame him- she wonders if the sacrifices they made were worth it. He says they should make new traditions. The radio comes on and says Roger's been spotted on 5th Street. Van's- Midny says Bill's not there. Van wants to call the police but Mindy says they should think first. She wonders where he'd go and asks Van when she saw him last. Van says it was in the living room and she sent him to bed early because he stole a golf cart. She says she was going to have Billy talk to him later, but they got preoccupied. Mindy says when she was in trouble as a kid she'd go to a friend's house. Van calls Michelle's house and asks the babysitter if Bill's there. She says he's not. Mindy says Tangie's missing too. Van says that's funny because Tangie called to ask for Bill earlier but she wouldn't let him talk to her because he was being punished. Van asks Mindy if she thinks there's a connection. Mindy says she hopes not, because Tangie's in trouble- some dangerous men are looking for her. Van asks what's going on. She says Tangie's in a lot of trouble, and whoever gets caught with her is sure to be too. Lighthouse(Outside)- Nick sees a shoe. He thinks it's Mindy's and leaves with Billy and Josh. Lighthouse- Ray says untying Bill was a bad idea because he could get hurt. Tangie asks Bill if he's alright. Ray says she should've been satisfied with the money they were going to give her for working the casino. She says right- like he was really going to pay her after what he did. He says her mouth must get her into a lot of trouble. He says all he wants is the money. She says what makes you think I've got it? He says don't even try it. He grabs Bill and then asks for the money. She asks what happens to Bill if she gives him the money. He says he doesn't know. She says she'll give him the money, just let the kid go. He lets Bill go. She says he doesn't know anything and to call Bill and cab and let him go and then she'll give Ray the money. He says ok, but he holds down the button on the phone as he calls. Bill sees him do it and tells Tangie. She says they have to make a run for it- on the count of three. Lighthouse- Tangie starts to run for it and Bill grabs the money. She attacks Ray as Bill runs up the lighthouse stairs and punches Ray, then she follows Bill up the stairs. Cab- Julie tells Lucy about the house Dylan was building for her. Lucy says she wants to go see it. Julie says they can't because Dylan burned it down. She says she forgot Lucy wasn't in town to see her make a mess of her life like the rest of the town. Lucy says she couldn't have done anything that bad. She asks Julie to tell her what happened. Julie tells her about being in love with Hart and how she got involved with Dylan and that she didn't belive the voice inside her that told her it was too soon to get married, and that Hart came back to town and she still had feelings for him. She says she tried to stay away from him but she couldn't and she didn't know what to do. She says she talked to Dylan about it and he told her it was natural for her to still have feelings for her first love. She says after that she felt she needed to get him out of her system. Lucy asks- so you slept with Hart? She says, how else was she supposed to get rid of the fantasy. Lucy says yeah- but you didn't think Dylan would mind? She says she didn't think he'd find out. She says she thinks if he hadn't, things would have worked out, because she got Hart out of her system. Lucy asks how Dylan found out. Julie says somebody blabbed, someone who was jealous spilled her guts at the altar in front of everyone. Lucy says that's awful- who would do that? Julie says- Bridget Reardon. Hart's- Bridget walks in. Dylan follows her. He asks her why she wanted to come here. She says New Year's- Auld Lang Syne. He asks if she enjoys beating herself up. She says she didn't come here to dredge up memories of Hart, she came because of Vanessa. She says the problem with high class people is that they think if they talk right, people like her won't realize how damned rude they're being. Dylan says Van wasn't being rude. Bridget says she practically kicked her out of the house. Dylan says it was a bad time. Bridget says she was ok when she needed Peter, but now she treats her like a pest. Dylan says she's not being fair. Bridget says it's not fair to expect her to forget Peter- that they're all trying to forget where Peter came from, but she'll never forget. Dylan says that's the problem, Van shouldn't have to audition as the perfect parent anymore. Bridget says Van made that clear, but then why is she so nervous around her? Hart's- Dylan says Bridget's being too sensitive. Bridget says he doesn't know, he's not there. She says Van acts like a robot around her. Dylan says she's just formal. Bridget says no- it's just around her. She says Van's too controlled. Dylan says maybe she's nervous because Bridget's so unsettled. Bridget says she's had an unsettling year. Dylan says Peter hasn't, he's had a great year- a great life. He asks Bridget, isn't that what she wanted? She says yes. Dylan says Van wants that too and that Bridget knows Van's a good mother. Bridget says she hasn't seen him wear the sweater she made him. He says he wore it Christmas. He says it's a new year and it's time to work on their own lives. He says look at all the losers they met- it makes him think he's better off alone. She says she wonders if she'll ever trust another man again, the way she's supposed to if she wants to make a life for herself. He says he's sure she would if he was good looking enough. She says, as if he didn't fall in love with someone because they were beautiful. She says she just wants to know that one day she can feel the way she felt about Hart again. He suggests that some guy they saw at the party might be nice. She says window shopping was fun. Cab- Julie says Bridget's just one of those people who has to destroy everybody and guys just fall all over themselves to take care of her. Lucy says, she means to get her into bed. Julie says she means nice guys- that they always want to help Bridget out, but she's just normal to them. Lucy says guys need to be needed. Julie says yeah- she feels she let Bridget win, because she gave up on him. Lucy says which him. Julie says both of them. She says Bridget's got Dylan dragging her around town. Lucy says some guys are so smart about everything else and so stupid about women. Julie says she won't let anyone get in her way after a guy, no matter what she has to do. She says if Lucy likes AM, go for it. Lucy says yeah, and she'll be doing him a favor too. She says Gilly's just after AM to make her a bigshot and his snooty old aunt treats him like a servant. She says the lights are still on in the mansion. Julie says maybe AM already has a woman up there. Lucy runs out of the cab. Van's- Van asks if it's a jealous lover chasing Tangie. Mindy says no- they're straight out of the Godfather. Van gets upset and asks Mindy why she didn't tell her. Mindy says she's sorry, but Tangie wanted to tell Josh first, and after all, they did move her to the boathouse. Van says there are no excuses for not telling her. Josh, Billy and Nick show up. Van tells Billy that Bill's missing. She says she's scared because Mindy told her some dangerous men are after Tangie. Van asks Josh if he knew. Josh asks what the connection is. Van says they don't know anything about Tangie and she could have come to town to set the family up. Josh says slow down- Tangie hasn't done anything. Mansion (Outside)- Lucy and Julie get to the window. Julie says AM's with a woman. Lucy says she knows it must be Gilly. Julie makes her look and she sees he's listening to the radio with his aunt. Mansion- Alex turns off the radio. She says she doesn't know whether to be happy she's not a murderess or sad because Roger's not dead. AM says he wonders what he's doing on 5th street. Alex says he could be anywhere by now. She says she'll double security. AM says she should call the police now. Van's- Nick is on the phone and tells the police he'll fax them a picture of Bill and that they're afraid he's in danger. Josh says they don't know the people after Tangie have him. Van asks how he'd feel if it was his kids. He says they know he'd go crazy, but he's trying to get them to be more reasonable. Van says Tangie's being chased by someone and she thinks she's being pretty reasonable under the circumstances. She asks what Tangie did. Josh says she saw something she shouldn't have seen and they were going to go to the police tomorrow. Billy says even if Tangie didn't do anything wrong, she's got a bag full of problems. Josh says Tangie's scared. He says to blame him for getting her to stay. He says she's not a bad person. Billy says sometimes you just don't know the people you think you know best. Lighthouse- Tangie and Bill run to the top of the lighthouse. Ray tries to get in. Tangie tells Bill she told him to run out the door. He says ok- he will next time. Ray says to open the door. Tangie says not to let Ray scare him. Bill says he's not scared, he just doesn't like being up so high in the dark and not to tell Michelle he was scared. Tangie tells Ray to take the money and leave. Bill shows her he has the money. He says they earned it. She shows Ray the money and threatens to light it if he doesn't leave. She says she'll throw it over the railing. He says he doesn't like that idea. She says too bad, or he'll get a bag of ashes. He agrees and Bill asks Tangie if she thinks he's really gone. Hart's- They discuss the people they met at the party. A horse neighs. Bridget asks Dylan if he thinks the horse is ok. He says she's ok, probably had a horse nightmare. She says they should go check on her. He says the only thing out there now would be something they wouldn't want to dal with. She says the horse is her responsibility. He says he'll check on her in the morning and they should go. Mansion (outside)- Julie is trying to lift Lucy to see in the window. A cop catches them. He says they're under arrest. Julie says Lucy knows the Spauldings, but Lucy says she's never seen them before. Mansion- AM asks Alex if there's a gun in the house. A cop says they caught the prowlers, just a couple of teenagers. Alex thanks the cop and says a security guard is coming. AM asks if she thinks that's enough if Roger comes. Van's- Nick tells Mindy it'll be ok- they'll find Bill. Nick gives Mindy the shoe he found at the lighthouse. Josh asks where Nick got it. Nick says it was at the lighthouse and it's Mindy's. Mindy says it's not hers. Josh says it's Tangie's. Lighthouse- Ray asks Tangie to throw him the money. She starts to throw it and Bill stops her. He says that's all they have to bargain with. She says the money will scatter everywhere and they can get out before Ray get's it all. They smell smoke. Bill says there's not a fire in the fireplace. Tangie says there is now.
