Frank comes down and the Coopers talks about Marina, who is apparently coming down sick. Frank resists the change to guilt-trip Eleni and wishes her a fond farewell. Julie echoes the sentiment, but not very convincingly. Once Eleni is out the door, she says "YES!". FIRE HOUSE - Jenna, not looking a bit glamorous or happy, awaits a call from Buzz at 9:10 AM, as she tears at a Kleenix. The phone rings, but it ain't he. DINER - Ross pours Buzz a cup of coffee, waking him as he has fallen asleep at a booth in the diner. Buzz starts awake saying "I'm not guilty!" [These guys are so cool and subtle] Buzz covers, saying he was dreaming he was in court. Ross doesn't react that much, but goes on to tell him he wants to talk to him. Buzz says he doesn't work there anymore. Nevermind, says Ross, I want to talk about Paul Hardman and 'the $400,000 that is so dear to his heart'. Buzz gets a guilty look of feigned surprise on his face. SPAULDING ENTERPRISES- As Alex enters, Lucy puts on her super- secretary act for her. Lucy says she guesses that Alex didn't expect to see her. Alex agrees, then Lucy says she intends to stay, despite what happened with A-M. Alex tells her to cancel all her appointments. Alex enters her office. Just after, Mindums storms in and goes into Alex's office, despite Lucy's protestations. "I'm family now, Alex, you have to see me." Cut to the Light and the credits Alex says that being family doesn't mean you barge into offices unannounced. Mindy wonders if you have to make appointments with secretaries, and speculates that that is why the Spaudlings have been at each others throats for decades. "Shall we hoist the carcass of some long-haired, long-horned animal up the freight elevator and hold a barbeque it in the reception area...." Alex then asks what Mindums wants. "Resolution", she says. Mindy proceeds to tell Alex how much she wants them to get along since she saw poor Nick sitting alone in the dark, and later looking at a picture of his mom. Alex reiterates her list of ills, and Mindy takes credit for the secret wedding, and asks if Alex can blame her. "Can we just call it even?", says Mindy. Alex wonders why Mindy, not Nick, is making this plea for peace. COUNTRY CLUB - Jenna, dressed in black and shades, joins A-M for Bloody Marys. When A-M inquires about the shades, she tells him she was up all night waiting for Buzz. A-M suggests she take his 2 million, but if she does, he has to remain a silent partner to avoid legal hassles with Spaulding. Jenna asks if this extends to Buzz. A-M insists yes, especially since Buzz doesn't want to deal with A-M. A-M says he's also not going to tell Lucy, since she is too young and impulsive, and could slip around Alex and would most certainly tell Buzz. Jenna says she wants the thing to work, and A-M says he does, too. Jenna says that she can't deceive Buzz. A-M tells her to make a choice between her head and his heart. A-M says both their hearts have been bruised and battered as of late. DINER - Buzz gives Ross the runaround, claiming he hardly knows Pauly. When Ross brings up Nadine, Buzz says he hasn't been chaperoning them. Ross asks if he's seen Pauly throwing around cash, then mentions the big ring that Pauly bought Nadine. Ross says he thinks Pauly came back for the $$$ and it is time someone blew the whistle on him. OUTSIDE THE DINER - Frank and Eleni are talking on the diner steps. Frank expresses his concern for her safety in the big, bad Windy City. Eleni expresses her trust in the wisdom of cabdrivers [she's definitely had different luck with them than I have]. Frank finally tries to beg his way along with her. Eleni says it's not a good idea since she'll be busy and he really needs to stay with Marina. Franks feels wounded, and Eleni explains how important it is to her to go on her first real business trip all by herself. Frank clearly feels sorry for himself. COOPER LIVING ROOM - Julie is reading some Cosmo type magazine on the ways the attract your man as she paints her little toes for Frank. "Number 17 - don't blurt out your feelings, let him know what's in your heart in subtle ways....Honey, I've tried subtle, it's time to bring out the heavy guns!" Next, the article suggests cooking for your man, with flowers and candles. Julie goes in to fantasy overdrive, pretending Frank and she are at the dinner. It's sickening, but a little funny. ALEX'S OFFICE - The sparring continues. Alex claims she'll never forgive Mindy, as Lucy comes in to ask about drinks. Mindy takes tea, over Alex's protestations (I love Marj Dusay's raised eyebrow, perturbed look in this scene). Mindy wants to compromise somehow. They agree to make a list of concessions. "Make yourself comfortable," says Alex. "We may be awhile." DINER - Buzz picks some lint off Ross's jacket (a strange but nice touch) as the convo continues. Buzz says he doesn't really know Pauly, but that he seems like a complicated guy. He speculates as to why Pauly commited the robbery in the first place, speculating that Pauly's life started running him rather than him running it, and speculates a woman was probably involved. Buzz clearly relates to this theme. COUNTRY CLUB - A-M continues to try to convince Jenna to spring for a deal. A-M thinks she should proceed, that Buzz will thank her later. Jenna says she can't, she just can't, but maybe later. A-M says the offer may not be good later on. She expresses her regret, then leaves, passing Gilly on her way out. Gilly walks up to A-M, and him she's sorry about how the board meeting went. When A-M tells her happy about it, she's sure is scheming something and asks if there's anything she should get in on. A-M reminds her that she called him a loser. She apologizes, but A-M doesn't buy, saying she just wants a taste of whatever he is doing. A-M says he might call in the future, since he may need someone to get a lot of people excited about something in the future. Gilly asks about how his girlfriend will respond to that. ALEX OFFICE - Alex and Mindy continue their list, discussing issues like herbal tea versus coffee, and how to divide the maids. Alex picks Donna, Mindy gets Ginger. They move on to meals - Mindy wants them to eat together at least sometimes. Alex tells Mindy how much she hates to eat in her room, and how nice the last few pre-wedding weeks were with everyone being together. When Alex mentions eating in her room makes her feel like a prisoner in her own house, when it was my house, Mindy says she can't blame them for giving the house to Nick. A call comes in and Alex wants to take it. Mindy flatly won't let her. COUNTRY CLUB - A-M says he thought Gilly might be trying to apologize to him, but he guesses not. Gilly goes into a self-pity mode, as A-M attempts to explain that something good may come up later. A-M asks when Gilly got so cold. She says when it was when she started hanging out with wheeler-dealers like him. She says she doesn't forget, and to lose her phone number. She says that maybe Lucy feels the same way (I'm not sure how the situations are related). A-M attempts to call Lucy at Spaulding, but no luck. COOPER HOUSE - Lucy has stopped by on her lunch break to check on Julie. Lucy asks to come in, and then notices the table for 2 and the flowers and candles, plus a hot(?) skimpy dress laying on the couch. She puts it together that this is not for Frank and Eleni. Julie says that Steve is coming by that night, since Eleni is out of town and Frank is working late. Lucy is surprised she's ready to be with a guy. Julie says she doesn't know what will happen, but she can't wait to be alone with Steve. DINER - Frank continues to bug Eleni as she gets things together for the trip. Eleni breaks down and says Frank can come. He begins to search for Buzz, and Ross tells him Buzz has split. Frank says he guesses Eleni will have to go alone. (Frank is a pathetic loser sometimes). She leaves, promising Frank to call when she gets to the hotel. Franks says to himself "Thanks a lot, Dad." FIREHOUSE - Buzz comes in, saying "Well, look who's finally home.." Jenna asks about his whereabouts, and he ignores her to ask about the black dress she is wearing. He says they need to watch themselves, not to buy new clothes or anything else, since people are asking him about the money. He loses it, saying he's sick about people not taking his word. Jenna says she can't take it, not today. Buzz want to know just what is so special about today? Jenna looks quite dejected. After a commercial, this continues. Jenna is wiping her face with a washcloth, saying she was worried about him, waiting, and wasn't happy that he yelled at her as soon as he got in. Buzz says people at the diner are driving him crazy. Buzz says they could be in a lot of trouble if they don't watch their act. Jenna says this is great, they have lots of money but can't spend it. Buzz says this is ridiculous, that they have it made. Jenna says she is grateful, she really is, but doesn't sound one bit happy. Buzz - "Then why so glum?" She fetches something from the table and Buzz says "Your appointment book - you missed the ice capades?" She shows him a page and he immediately takes her in his arms. We see a closeup of the page - it says "Baby Due", with bunnies and hearts drawn all over. ALEX OFFICE - Mindler's List is complete, they agree to have dinner that night, and Mindler prepares to exit, as Alex says "You don't really think this is going to work." Mindy breezes out. COUNTRY CLUB - A-M tries for Lucy again unsuccessfully. He tells a waiter he'll be going home rather than staying at the club again. And that he intends to make it very clear to all that it is still his home. FIREHOUSE - Jenna is telling Buzz how she found the book as she was straightening up to get her mind of worrying about Buzz. She can't believe that much time has gone by (me too, quite frankly) and talks about how they should have a little one aroudn. She cries, Buzz rocks and holds her. COOPER HOUSE - Julie walks down in her ugly dress, and Franks wanders around the room drinking a beer. Frank says she's really dressed for babysitting. She says is just came from a catalog place and she just had to try it on. He then wonders about the fancy table and weird food in the refrigerator. It seems that Julie has bought OYSTERS! She hopes Frank will join her for dinner. He agrees, then goes upstairs to take a nap. Since he asked Julie to call him if Eleni calls, she takes the phone off the hook. CHICAGO HOTEL DESK - Eleni has arrived and asks to use the hotel's phone to call Frank. She's already told the clerk she'll only need her room if her meeting runs late. She tells him to watch for her client and send her over to the coffeeshop. COOPER HOUSE - Julie smells her flowers as Eleni gets a busy signal. We get a closeup of the off-the-hook headset.
